Despite all the negative reviews, I thought this was a really cool place! We ended up at Upstairs on a Thursday night before a show at the Ace Theatre. We got there around 6:30, and most tables were full but we managed to snag two seats at the bar. We loved the atmosphere and noted the jacuzzi .... Which seemed to be open for anyone(?) My friend ordered a gin-based cocktail called All Panic No Disco ($18) and I opted for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc ($14). Both came served in plastic drink ware, which I wasn't too fond of, but it just solidified my thoughts about the jacuzzi being open for anyone. As we sipped, the place filled UP and seemed to be standing room only by 7 pm. With the recent news of Ace closing, I hope someone is able to jump in and do something with this space! It was such a cool location, and I hope to be able to visit it in some format one way.

I am staying at the Ace during an LA Trip and am a big fan of the hotel and their rooftop bar, upstairs. The cocktails, beer and food are good I tried the queso, the watermelon poke, and a few of their cocktails. All were good, but the setting is the star. The views of LA are great but the building itself, and the turn of the century architectural features - they make for a cool vibe along with the accompanying music/DJ. One night was busy and tranquil another featured a DJ and a bustling hip hop scene. It was a great way to soak in DTLA. Service was excellent.

Went in around 5pm on a Saturday. Place wasn't too crowded. We were able to find places to sit. They did tell us that the table was reserved starting at 7, which still gave us plenty of time to enjoy drinks. I think they have a nice variety of cocktails. The cocktails weren't too strong but you can still taste the alcohol. They also have a full bar so they can make whatever you want. There is a pool and several people were using it. I think they were all hotel guests?
